The Woods!

We have been spending as much time outdoors as possible. It's been lovely weather, a little warm but hey it's not 110! I'm reading The Last Child in the Woods right now. It's made me even more aware of our time spent outdoors and has solidified my decision to do Earthschooling.
Our backyard is nice but it's very  important to spend time in wild green spaces.  I took Finley and Caelan to the Heard Museum. My mom and brother came with us!

Very warm- lots of water!

The Heard has a beautiful butterfly garden!

And Caelan is noticing his first lovely rainy day!

Michaelmas

On September 29 we celebrated Michaelmas.  Long story short- we celebrated courage and the prevailing of good over evil.  Jami did a puppet show about a dragon who ate all of the garden vegetables and the brave knight who tamed him. The dragon made up for  eating all their vegetables by blowing fire for the baker to bake bread.  We ate some bread in the shape of a dragon, then the kids colored shields and played knights and princesses. It will be a few more years until we talk about dragon slaying.

My computer is crap at uploading pics to blogger so for now this is all I've got.

Caelan is 1!

Ok so this post is a little late.  In honor of Caelan's birthday, we decided we should go to the Gentle Zoo. That's where we went the day before he was born (well, the day before I went into labor... a different calendar day by the clock I never went to sleep so it's the same day to me.) Also, there is a little girl there and her name is Kaylinn and because of her we changed Caelan's name at the last minute- from Cullen I think, or maybe Callum. Whatever. I just felt like it was a sign!So we went there when it was like 100 outside. Not the best day to go. We only stayed a little over an hour.

Caelan is like, um, I'm not sure what we are doing here...it's hot!

It was so hot- lots of water!

Finley's first ice cream cone!

I had the flu on Caelan's birthday.  I almost passed out making him carrot cupcakes and really couldn't be bothered with the "icing".

I don't really look sick but I'm telling you- exhausted, body aches,chills...misery!
